Best Time to Play Golf in Vietnam: Month-by-Month Regional Weather Guide (2026/2027)

First-time international golfers planning a trip to Vietnam almost always start by asking when Vietnam's dry season runs. Because the country stretches more than 1,650 kilometers (1,025 miles) from the northern mountains bordering China down to the tropical Gulf of Thailand, Vietnam does not have a single national weather pattern.

Instead, the country splits into three distinct climate zones (plus two coastal and highland microclimates in Cam Ranh and Dalat). When autumn rain hits Da Nang in November, Hanoi and Phu Quoc are in peak dry sunshine. When southern Europe or Australia turns cold in June and July, the coastal links around Da Nang and Nha Trang are firm, sunny, and dry.

Month-by-month regional golf weather matrix

January to February Saigon, Ho Tram, Phu Quoc & Nha Trang (26°C to 31°C, dry) Da Nang & Hanoi (cool 16°C to 22°C in North) None (dry across all regions from mid-Feb)
March to April All 3 Regions (Hanoi, Da Nang, Nha Trang, Saigon) Dalat Highlands (21°C spring air) None (best nationwide 3-region window)
May to August Da Nang, Hoi An, Lang Co & Nha Trang / Cam Ranh Dalat Highlands (18°C to 23°C mountain air) Hanoi midday (hot; play 6:30 AM or floodlit night golf)

December Phu Quoc Island, Saigon, Ho Tram & Hanoi Nha Trang / Cam Ranh Early December passing showers in Central Vietnam

1. Northern Vietnam (Hanoi, Ha Long Bay, Ninh Binh, and Hai Phong)

Unlike tropical Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, or Jakarta, Northern Vietnam has four distinct seasons. The prime golf window runs from October through April, when humidity drops and daytime temperatures sit between 18°C and 26°C (64°F to 79°F).

In October, November, March, and April, you can walk or ride 36 holes a day at limestone karst layouts like Sky Lake, Trang An, or BRG Legend Hill under crisp blue skies. December, January, and February bring cooler mornings (14°C to 19°C) where you will want a quarter-zip pullover for the front nine, making Hanoi a favorite winter destination for Korean, Japanese, and European golfers.

From May through August, Northern Vietnam turns hot and humid (32°C to 36°C). Groups visiting Hanoi in summer either book 6:15 AM tee times or switch to afternoon twilight and floodlit night rounds at Long Bien Golf Course and BRG Legend Hill.

2. Central Coast (Da Nang, Hoi An, and Lang Co)

Central Vietnam (Da Nang, Hoi An, and Lang Co) enjoys peak dry sunshine from February through August.

Home to Hoiana Shores, Ba Na Hills, Legend Danang, Montgomerie Links, and Laguna Lang Co, Central Vietnam has a weather calendar that runs opposite to the rest of Southeast Asia. Its dry season stretches from February right through August.

February, March, and April deliver mild coastal temperatures (24°C to 29°C) and light breezes. From May through August, when Australian states are in winter and other Asian destinations enter their southwest monsoon, Da Nang and Hoi An stay sunny and dry with firm, fast-running links turf. Teeing off between 7:00 AM and 8:30 AM in summer lets you finish 18 holes before lunch and spend the afternoon by the resort pool.

The one window to watch on the Central Coast is mid-October through November, when autumn typhoons and heavy coastal rain hit Da Nang and Hoi An. If your group's vacation dates fall in late October or November, book Hanoi in the north or Saigon and Phu Quoc in the south instead.

3. South-Central and Southern Vietnam (Nha Trang, Cam Ranh, Saigon, Ho Tram, and Phu Quoc)

Cam Ranh and Nha Trang sit in a sheltered coastal microclimate with more than 300 sunny golf days per year.

Southern Vietnam offers reliable year-round warmth (27°C to 33°C) and splits into two sub-zones:

First, Nha Trang and Cam Ranh sit inside a coastal rain-shadow protected by surrounding mountain ridges, giving KN Golf Links and Vinpearl Hon Tre Island over 300 sunny days a year from January through September.

Second, Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), The Bluffs Grand Ho Tram, and Phu Quoc Island enjoy their peak dry season from November through April. Even during the May-to-October green season in Saigon, rain rarely falls all day; it usually arrives as a predictable 45-minute tropical shower around 3:30 PM, leaving 7:30 AM tee times dry.
